The Impact Team
The Team
The Word of Life Impact Team is a select group of young men who have graduated from
the Word of Life Bible Institute’s two-year program and dedicated their lives to full-time
Christian service. A variety of ministry opportunities throughout the year enables them to
broaden their outreach for Christ. Two main venues of ministry are Local Churches and
Christian Schools.
Their Ministry
Churches – Word of Life is dedicated to assisting the local church in fulfilling the
Great Commission. The Impact Team can supply special music and exciting testimonies for
regular church services as well as special events.
Christian Schools – More than providing “just another chapel service,” our desire
is to have the Team spend a good portion of the day with the junior and senior high school
students, exemplifying godly role models. The Team is open to assisting with question and
answer panels, teaching subjects, or simply sitting in on classes. Whenever possible, the
Team eats lunch with the students, so they can personally share their exciting relationship
with Jesus Christ.
The Response
“Their music was excellent--it was God-honoring, Scripture-exalting and professionally
presented.”
“Their drama presentation was extremely effective. The students really got the message.”
“They were a great example. I could tell they were here to serve and minister.”
“An effective, edifying ministry—a real blessing!”
“They greatly impacted our teens!”
“Their joy and servanthood clearly showed the love of Jesus.”
“Fabulous! Please come again!”

Word of Life is excited to have a ministry whose purpose is to bring the Gospel
to people "where they are" in public places, where they shop, work, play, and live:
Open Air Evangelism (OAE). Sam Frey leads this ministry for Word of Life, and God
has used Sam in incredible ways. Through paint boards, rope tricks, and other
visualizations, people in urban America are challenged to consider the claims of Christ.
Who is involved in the OAE ministry?
OAE is facilitated by full-time, Word of Life missionaries exclusively dedicated to
Open Air Evangelism. The staff is as follows (children in brackets):
Abel & Connie Bernardo (Dwight, Paulyn, Camille) - Serving in Manila, Philippines
Del & MaryAnn Benner - New York
Sam & Sherry Frey (Shawn, Sara, Steven) - New York
Jim & Julie Harvey (Rosemary, Uriah, Gabrielle) - New York
Also, about 75 churches, and between 150-200 Word of Life Bible Institute
students are a part of this exciting work.
What are some of the goals for OAE this upcoming year?
1. To be consistent in working hand-in-hand with NYC churches to encourage and train
their assemblies in the area of evangelism/ discipleship.
2. To directly and indirectly disciple new converts as we work through local churches,
personal involvement, and our Bible correspondence lessons.
3. To establish and commit to working with new church and individual contacts
worldwide for the furtherance of the Gospel.
4. To seek and utilize new means of spreading the Gospel efficiently.
What are some prayer requests?
For the salvation of the lost, and growth of Believers.
For God's blessing and power to do His work His way.
For protection and provision over our families and ministries.
For needed financial and prayer support, especially for our new staff
to be able to phase in to a full-time schedule.
Spanish Ministries' purpose is to evangelize and disciple through Spanish speaking
local churches. Ministering with groups of young people, predominately students
from the Word of Life Bible Institute, Spanish Ministries looks to team with churches'
youth groups and minister in the Sunday schools and services of the church.
Who is involved in Spanish Ministries?
Rick Warken directs Spanish Ministries for Word of Life here in the States,
bringing with him years of experience as an overseas missionary with Word of Life.
Spanish Ministries mainly incorporates students from the Word of Life Bible Institute,
but there are also service opportunities for church youth groups, etc.
What are some of the Spanish Ministries goals for the upcoming year?
Rick Warken speaks almost every weekend at one of the churches Spanish Ministries serves.
They are looking for new churches to minister in that are unfamiliar with Word of Life.
Spanish Ministries is also considering putting together a Spanish ‘Impact’ singing team that
would minister and tour up and down the east coast.
What are some prayer requests?
Rick Warken has specifically mentioned the following requests:
1. Pray for the discipleship of those who make decisions.
2. Pray for new church contacts and open doors to preach.
3. Financial support.
4. Health and strength to meet the demands.
5. My Family.
